Selective awareness, the reason why controlling your mind is so easy.

Reality or imagination? Understanding selective awareness is the only way to break free from mind control. But it is not as easy as you think, to be able to tell the difference between real and imagination. The line between the two isn't as black and white as you would like.
I'm sure most of you are aware of the of the expression 'Elephant in the room'. Some of you will also be aware of the 'Gorilla' cognitive experiment, that highlight the selectivity of our minds. But if you are not they both show proof that we see not what we want to see, but what we are expecting to see.
For those of you who do not know the story of the elephant. It is a story of 6 blind men presented with an elephant for the first time. Each of the blind men stand at different parts of the elephants body and begin to describe what they think an elephant is using touch. Needless to say they all describe the elephant as something entirely different depending on which part of the body they were touching. Read the story here.
(Spoiler alert! View the video first if you want to test your own cognitive awareness)
The invisible gorilla experiment was created by Daniel J Simons, as a selective attention test. It goes something like this. The viewer is asked to pay attention to a detail in the video. In the meantime a gorilla is passing. At the end we are asked whether we saw the gorilla. Most people did not. Why? Because our attention was directed and focused at something else. Your mind did not expect to see a person in a gorilla suit and so you did not.
So what does this mean for our reality?
It means that you can not trust what you experience as being the ultimate truth. Not even half the truth. And even if everyone you are with experience the same thing, can you be sure that is the complete truth of what happened. At best it is agreed upon reality. At worst it is a small selection of what existed in that moment and really you missed a whole world of other things that went on.
Was it Aliens or just my mind?

When we realize the extent of which things could be happening around us that we are not even aware of it is mind blowing. Really, there could be Aliens walking passed you right now and you wouldn't even know. How y? Because you don't know to look for them. They are not part of your paradigm and hence you are blind to their existence.

What does that mean for things like, ghosts, nature spirits, parallel universes and other things that are part of our experienced unseen. Well it certainly opens up for the idea that they could all be co existing with us right now and only those who know where and how to look can see them. And it is not because they are crazy or have a vivid imagination, but rather they are tuned in to see.
Where's your head at?
Ghosts, Aliens and Fairy folk aside, you could be missing a whole host of information simply because of where your mind is at, at any given moment. And it is a bit unnerving don't you think?

For example. Let's take a person who watches a certain type of reality TV program daily. It contains scenes of violence from 'the streets'. The same person has a social media feed full of police violence videos, kids hitting each other, domestic violence appeals, missing children alerts and so on. This persons world is filled with violence.
What this person sees when (s)he leaves their house is likely going to be the violent, aggressive and negative people and events around them. This all because their mind has been 'programmed' to look for it.
The mind is selective because it can not possibly process all information. The mind selects what it thinks is most important for a persons survival. In a world where there supposedly is violence everywhere all the time (the world of the above mentioned person), that is all that will be noted. And as a result over time this person is likely going to want to protect themselves from all this violence.
They may want to carry a weapon, learn self defense and definitely always always want to be on the offence, prepared to battle. Be it verbally or physically. And if they are so dis-positioned they may chose to enter a public place and shoot some people in anticipation of a violent event that may be planned against them in a perceived future.

Now take a person who does not watch TV. Does not partake in the media in general. Spend most of their time in nature. Have a social media feed filled with positive affirmations, positive world events and positive message from their friends days.
This person on the other hand will likely leave the house seeing mostly positive things. They are programmed to see the best around them and filter out anything negative that may be going on. Of course their minds are also geared toward survival, however their survival tactic based on their programming might be to only see the best in things to stay positive to cope.
Now this person will likely be very friendly and probably somewhat naive in their dealings with people. Smile a lot and generally be open toward people. There is no reason to be defensive or offensive in a world full of goodness. They may enter a violent conflict bearing nothing but flowers and happy messages.
Both of these peoples are experiencing reality, and both of them have rational responses to that experience. However they only have a selective reality experience. And both of them co-create their own experience based on their programming. These people are simultaneously correct and incorrect about the state of the world, as well as what goes on in their immediate surroundings. And so it is for every single one of us. We can only ever see our own version of reality.
Welp, so how do I know what is really real?

So how then can we learn what really goes on? How can we change what we see, and why should we, maybe, do that? How on earth can we see reality how it really is?
The first part of that involves being aware that we are limited in our ability to take in information. Just by knowing that we can open up for possibilities we would otherwise close our minds to.
Secondly, by sharing our experiences of an event and listening to other peoples version with an open mind, can we possibly get a more complete view of what is happening. They may have information you do not and vice versa. Together the views form a much more complete story of what happened.
(Remember if someone saw the Gorilla in the video they would likely have lost count of the ball passes or how many people were playing the game or what colors they were wearing or something else that might have happened after the Gorilla entered the picture. )
Finally by challenging your beliefs often. Pay attention to what you are over consuming in terms of information. Are you always watching a certain type of program. Maybe it is time to switch up and try something new. A new genre of movie, or TV series. Maybe stop watching the news for a while or, watch alternative news. Or read the news instead of watching the report of TV. Or the big one, turn off social media for a week or two. See how that affects you.
Pay attention!

I want to leave you with a final important piece of information.
Music is a powerful tool in controlling a persons experience. It plays on our emotions, and emotions are triggers for our mind to absorb/store information. Music carries emotion and words straight into our minds and bypasses our critical thinking. Melodies have us lulled into a false sense of security or pleasure state and so we allow what ever is carried in that sound byte straight into the mind. Without our critical thinking turned off, the words carried on the music are then assimilated into our consciousness and become part of our reality.
What we see is a reflection of our own minds. Images, words and sounds all affect our reality. So chose wisely what information you feed your mind!
